At Montgomery Academy, our commitment is to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Good and consistent attendance is fundamental to this endeavour. It provides students with uninterrupted access to essential learning and development opportunities, and it also fosters their holistic growth through the cultivation of strong peer relationships. Furthermore, being present in school enables students to receive crucial wellbeing support from our dedicated staff whenever needed. We emphasise as well as it being a child's right to receive an education, it is also a parent's/carer's legal responsibility to ensure this right is fulfilled through consistent school attendance. We ask all parent's/carer's to maintain strong lines of communication with the school to ensure that we can support you to support your child.

Leave of Absence Request Form
The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2024, states clearly that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time.
The government strongly advises all parents and carers to avoid taking children out of school for family holidays, as this can significantly disrupt their education and impact their progress.
Please be aware that absences will not be authorised for reasons such as:
- Shopping for uniform
- Celebrations like birthdays
- Holidays
- Day trips or short weekends away
- Or similar non-exceptional circumstances.
It is important to be aware that unauthorised absences during term time, including unapproved holidays, may result in a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) issued by the Local Authority. We are required to follow the national framework for FPNs, and these notices can carry a significant financial penalty. Our aim is always to work with families to prevent this, and open communication is key.
